What to send when requesting an engineering quote
A useful quote needs a clear scope. You do not need every document from day one: start by explaining what you need and what information you have.
Describe the objective
State whether you want to open a business, alter an installation, regularise an existing one, obtain a certificate or respond to an official request. Include the municipality, address and an indicative schedule.
Attach existing documentation
- Property plans or sketches.
- General photographs and photographs of building services.
- Previous designs, technical reports and certificates.
- Relevant licences or administrative documents.
- Complete official requests, if any.
Explain the proposed changes
State which installations will remain in use, what equipment will be added and what works are planned. If other professionals are already involved, explain their roles so that the necessary coordination can be defined.
What the proposal should define
The documents to be prepared, visits, outstanding information, and any submission or coordination tasks included. Work requiring a separate quote from an installer or another professional should also be identified.
If any documents are missing
Provide the available documents and explain what is missing. The initial review identifies outstanding information and whether a visit is needed.
